By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police say they are investigating an alleged school violence threat made by a juvenile.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, Cleveland Police Department received information about a juvenile male who had made threats to shoot up White County Ninth Grade Academy when classes resume from break on Wednesday, Feb. 21, Cleveland Police Lt. Donna Sims said via email.

According to Sims, Cleveland officers have interviewed individuals who reported overhearing the juvenile’s threat, and gathered corroborating information that led to the juvenile being detained at the Regional Youth Detention Center.

Both Cleveland police and the White County Sheriff’s Office provided extra officers at each school in the county on Thursday.

“We wanted to help our students feel that we are watching out for them after the event in Florida,” said White County School Superintendent Jeff Wilson.

Sims said the investigation is ongoing, but stressed no other suspects are being sought.

Any students who heard the threat and have not talked with officers are asked to call Cleveland Police Department at (706) 348-7078.
