FLOWERY BRANCH — Reese Olson and Caleb Clark combined on a no-hitter and struck out 15 batters to lead North Hall to a season-opening 5-0 win over Flowery Branch Wednesday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.
The Trojans (1-0) scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. Olson and Harrison Brown each had RBI doubles in the inning against starter Zander Sechrist and reliver Preston Felt. Sechrist went 4 2/3 innings allowing just one run and fanning nine. Felt allowed four runs without recording an out for the Falcons (0-2).
Olson banged out three hits and David Seavy, Clark, and Charlie Erickson all had one hit each for North Hall.
New North Hall head coach Trevor Flow said it was a strong start with a young team.
"Reese and Caleb were really sharp," Flow said. "We also battled against a (Division I) quality pitcher and I think we started to see some things that you can't see in practice. We had some guys take some steps in the right direction and gain a little experience. Hopefully that has a snowball effect as we gain more experience before region play."
Flowery Branch next will play host to North Springs on Saturday. North Hall will travel to Class 7A West Forsyth on Saturday.
