Hall County records 9th rabies case of the year

Hall County authorities confirm a rabid fox came into contact with two dogs in the Clermont area this past week.
 
An advisory from Hall County Animal Services said the fox was discovered in the 6900 block of Keith Road. The confirmation of rabies came Friday from  the Georgia Public Health Lab- Virology Section in Decatur.
 
This is the ninth confirmed case of rabies in Hall County in 2018.
 
Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid fox was located. If residents in the area see an animal acting abnormally, the can contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
 
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Rd, Gainesville.
