Wrestling is not for the faint at heart – it requires skill, endurance, strength, determination and a lot of heart.
Monday morning, the North Hall Trojans were preparing for this week's competition with a 6:45 a.m. practice. While most were still in bed or getting ready for another day at work, the Trojan grapplers were already up and at it.
The defending dual state champions are off to a blistering start again this year and are a contender for the state title.
They also have a contender for an individual state championship as well.
Logan Hawthorne is one Trojan that has shown his opponents who the man is on the mat. The junior wrestler has knocked off 22 of his 23 opponents. Most recently, he sailed through the McCallie Invitational tournament with a perfect 4-0 record and captured the 195-pound weight class title.
We had a chance to catch up with Hawthorne and his coach, David Nichols to talk about his performance, the team's overall results and what's ahead for the Trojans.
