Boys basketball: East Hall rolls past Lumpkin; Bluff, Gainesville, Banks all win

East Hall outscored Lumpkin County 29-8 in the first quarter to set the pace Friday night in a 99-65 win. 

Aaron Thomas scored a team-high 19 points and Kylan Curry had 18 in the Vikings’ win. 

Lumpkin’s Patrick Jackson hit for a game-high 26 points. 

The Indians struggled against the East Hall pressure in the first quarter but settled down in the second and third quarter. The Indians, led by Jackson with 23 of his 26 points in the two quarters, outscored East Hall 43-40.

But, the Vikings flexed again in the third quarter. Thomas and Curry combined for 16 points and the Vikings hit four 3-pointers in the fourth to run away with the win. 

East Hall had four players in double digits. Jay Rucker hit for 16 points, and Imre Earls had 11 points.

The Vikings (5-3, 2-0) will travel to Cherokee Bluff Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

Lumpkin County will host Fannin County Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

CUMBERLAND CHRISTIAN 71

Griffin Neville dropped 30 points the win over Cumberland Christian at home Friday night. 

Palmer Weaver chipped in 11 points and Jason Everett had 8 in the win. 

Cherokee Bluff (4-3) will host East Hall Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

GAINESVILLE 83
SOUTHWEST ATLANTA 57

Maurice Hector scored 13 points and Julio Santana had 11 points to lead Gainesville past Southwest Atlanta Christian Friday night at home. 

Brent Kelly and Jordan Williams scored 10 points each for the Red Elephants. 

Gainesville outscored SWAC 32-20 in the first half and 51-37 in the second half.

Gainesville (2-5) will host Clarke Central Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

FRANKLIN 62
EAST JACKSON 54

Tay Howard scored 18 points in the loss to Franklin County Friday night at home. 

Makayl Rakestraw had 10 points for East Jackson.

The Eagles (4-4, 0-1) will travel to Morgan County Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

 

STEPHENS COUNTY 78
BANKS COUNTY 68

Banks County kept it close most of the night, pulling within four points at the end of the third quarter, eventually falling to Stephens County Friday at home. 

Carl Cleveland scored a game-high 33 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss. 

Stephens outscored Banks 40-32 in the first half and 38-36 in the second.

Pierce Martin chipped in 13 points, pulled 11 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals. Wes Ledford had 9 points and 6 boards.
Dakota Orr finished the night with 10 rebounds.

Banks (3-4) will travel to Putnam County Friday. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
