Region schedules continue to get cranking with a full slate of games on tap Friday night around northeast Georgia.
Perhaps the marquee matchup of the night will be in Dawsonville where Greater Atlanta Christian takes on the Tigers in a pair of crucial contests. The GAC boys (3-3, 1-0 Region 7-3A) are the defending Class 3A state champions while the Dawson County boys (5-1, 1-0 Region 7-3A) are considered a contender for the region title. Both teams come in riding three-game win streaks. On the girls side, the Lady Tigers (4-2, 1-0 Region 7-3A) behind Clemson-commit Kaylee Sticker is also considered a region title contender while the Class 3A 2018 state runner-up Lady Spartans (3-4, 1-0 Region 7-3A) have played a brutal early schedule.
Lumpkin County heads to East Hall and North Hall plays host to Fannin County in other Region 7-3A showdowns.
The other key matchup locally will take place in Region 7-4A, as Chestatee travels to Flowery Branch. The Class 5A 2018 state runner-up Lady Falcons (3-1, 1-0 Region 7-4A) are finding their groove having won three straight while the Lady War Eagles (5-4, 1-0 Region 7-4A) have won 4 of 5 games since a slow start. The Chestatee boys (6-2, 0-1 Region 7-4A) are one of the early surprise teams in the area while Flowery Branch (1-4, 1-0 Region 7-4A) gt its first win for new head coach Chezley Watson Tuesday night.
White County entertains Marist in Cleveland in another Region 7-4A contest.
AccessWDUN will be on hand in Dawsonville and Flowery Branch as well at Gainesville as Southwest Atlanta Christian comes calling and will have a complete wrap up of all of Friday night's action.
