A section of Green Street will be closed today from 2:30 p.m. until about 8:00 p.m. for Christmas on Green Street, according to Gainesville Police.

Side street intersections will also be closed.

" We will have the typical parade closures for Green Street; EE. Bulter @ Jesse Jewell Parkway, (Thompson Bridge Road) @ Enota, Parkhill @ Enota, all side streets off Green Street," spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email.  "All traffic control points will be manned by officers willing to assist motorists with detour routes."

Christmas on Green Street will feature a parade, carolers, open houses for some of the historic structures lining the street, and the traditional lighting of the Rotary Tree (at 7:00) at the intersection of Green, Academy Street, and E.E. Butler Parkway.
