Deadline to sponsor wreathes for veterans at Alta Vista, Memorial Park cemeteries Monday

By Alyson Shields Reporter

The deadline to sponsor a wreath for the annual Wreaths Across America fundraiser is Monday.

The Gainesville local location is trying to get a wreath on every veteran's grave in Alta Vista cemetery this year, as well as placing wreaths at Memorial Park Cemetery for the second year.

Alta Vista has about 1,200 graves to cover, and Local Location Leader Gail Mangum said at last report, they had collected 865 wreaths.

Memorial Park is a much larger cemetery and the goal there is 700, but Mangum said they had collected a little over 300.

The deadline to sponsor is Monday. Sponsorships can be made online, through a specific civic group or the cemetery itself, or by emailing the local location.
