Wrestling: North Hall pins down Archer Invitational title

LAWRENCEVILLE — The North Hall wrestling team already appears to be picking up where it left off in 2017-18.

The defending Class 3A Duals state champion Trojans were impressive on Saturday winning the power-packed Archer Invitational Tournament.

North Hall ran away from the 15-team pool tallying 241 points to hold off defending Class 5A state champion Buford (193 points) and Class 6A runner-up South Paulding (144.5 points) to take the title.

The Trojans got first-place finishes from Jacob Pedraza at 126-pounds, Mathew Glenn at 132, and Logan Hawthorne at 195. Dawson Thompson (106), Jack Whitmire at 138, and Seth Carlton at 220 all took second-place finishes.

Dalton Battle and Bowie Eisenberg finished third at 170 and 285, respectively, while Cody Smith (152) finished fourth.

Hunter Adams managed a fifth-place finish at 160, and Noah Hopkins, Hayden Cook and Logan West finished seventh at 120, 145 and 182 pounds.

North Hall next will compete next on Dec. 1st at Mountain View High School in a team dual format tournament. North Hall has a dual record of 3-0 so far on the young season.
