*The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently recognized state Department of Transportation board member Rudy Bowen for his dedication to Forsyth County and the state of Georgia "in keeping roads clean and safe."  The portion of Georgia 20 from Windermere Parkway in Forsyth County to Suwanee Dam Road in Gwinnett County has been named in his honor.  Bowen has been on the GDOT board since 2007, representing the 7th Congressional District, which includes the two counties.

*Over the next six months, water meter upgrades are being performed by the City of Gainesville, according to a Facebook posting by the Gainesville Water Resources Department.  The posting also says If you experience any meter-related issues from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., call 770-535-6878. For any after hour problems, call 770-535-6877.

*Catie Cook was recently crowned Miss GHS. Cook was chosen from among 13 candidates at the Miss GHS Pageant which was held on the Gainesville High School campus.

*The Piedmont College Singers’ Fall Concert will feature choral works from the 19th to the 20th century in a program entitled “Hope of Living.”  The free concert will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Chapel at 992 Central Avenue on the Piedmont campus in Demorest.
