BUFORD — It took some time to hit full stride, but once Buford's offense found it there was little doubt as to where the Region 8-5A title would land on Friday night.
The Wolves led Clarke Central 17-3 at the half but blitzed the Gladiators for 28 third quarter points to sew up the region crown 45-3 at Tom Riden Stadium.
Buford will head into next week's first round of the state playoffs -- where the Wolves (8-2) will play host to Miller Grove -- on the strength of another dominant defensive performance, having yielded just 27 total yards to the Gladiators.
Buford, meanwhile, finished with 330 yards, including 247 rushing. Derrian Brown continued his stellar season, gashing Clarke Central for 172 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries.
Brown's two first half touchdowns kept the Wolves in front 14-3 before Hayden Olsen added a 42-yard field goal just before halftime. The senior running back then added scoring runs of 41 and 46 yards in the third quarter and the route was on.
