Gwinnett County commissioners have given the green light for a new 119-unit townhome community to be built along Morgan Road near the yet-to-be-built I-85 interchange along Gravel Springs Road in Buford.
The plans call for a nearly-even split of the town homes on either side of Morgan Road, which bisects the plat, with 60 units on one side and 59 on the other, according to plans submitted to the county.
The development totals 18.61 acres.
"We would ... have about 30-percent of common, open area for the use and enjoyment of residents, including on both sides of the road. We think that would be a nice amenity for residents to be out, be active," said Shane Lanham, an attorney representing the developer, AAD Developments, LLC.
Each home will have a minimum of 1,750 square-feet of heated floor space, with a maximum height of 35-feet.
Commissioners approved the rezoning request unanimously, with Commissioner John Heard, in whose district the project sits, absent from the meeting.
The new I-85 interchange at Ga. 324/Gravel Springs road is expected to be finished in mid-2020.
