Gainesville man named to Georgia Ports Authority

A Gainesville businessman, Philip Wilheit, Jr., has been named to the Georgia Ports Authority.

Wilheit is a partner in Wilheit Packaging, LLC, in Gainesville.

He sits on the board of trustees for Leadership Georgia and the board of directors for the Georgia Natural Resources Foundation. He is the vice chairman of government relations for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the chairman of the John Jarrard Foundation Board of Directors and the chairman-elect of the Junior Achievement Board of Directors.

Wilheit is a graduate of Leadership Georgia.

The appointment was made by Gov. Nathan Deal.
