*Gainesville High School's One Act Play cast recently earned the Region 8-6A Runner-Up Cup.   The cast competed with a performance entitled "Butterflies are Free."   Six schools within the region competed in the event. Three GHS students received individual awards.  Delaney Benson was named Best Actress, and John Bush and Kylee Peacock were named to the All-Star Region 8 6-A cast.

*Suwanee's annual Trek or Treat will be held Sunday, October 28 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Sims Lake Park.  For more information, contact Events & Outreach Manager Amy Doherty at [email protected] or 770-904-3387.

* Members of the Piedmont College freshman class are again volunteering their time and artistic talents for the annual “Empty Bowls” event to fight hunger. Proceeds from the event will go to The Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen in Cornelia.  At 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the Piedmont College Swanson Center, students will be serving soup and bread in hand-crafted bowls.  Tickets can be purchased at the door, but space is limited. Advance tickets are available at https://www.piedmont.edu/empty-bowls.

*Gainesville Theatre Alliance's “The Wizard of Oz” is completely sold out a week and a half before its Nov. 6 opening.  But, starting Monday, Oct. 29, GTA is selling about 300 waiting list tickets.  These tickets can be purchased by calling the GTA Box Office from 10 am to 4 pm weekdays at 678-717-3624.  Mastercard, Visa and Discover are accepted.

*Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School's first "cow plop" fundraiser last Saturday raised about $5,000 for its scholarship programs. The event was a variation of "cow pie bingo."
