A woman who worked at the Dollar General Store on Lula Road in northeast Hall County has been arrested for stealing money from the business.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested Amanda Potts Perkins, 25, of Alto on Sunday, Oct. 21, the same day the alleged theft took place.

"On the morning of Sunday, October 21, 2018, Amanda Potts Perkins, 25, of Alto, stole $ 5,570.83 in US currency from the Dollar General Store located at 6117 Lula Road," said Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware in an email. "When employees of the store who came on duty following the theft discovered the money had been taken from the safe, they called 911."

Ware said Perkins was identified as a suspect and investigators were able to apprehend her within several hours after the money was discovered missing.

"Investigators recovered roughly half of the money which she had stolen," Ware said.

Perkins was charged with burglary in the second degree. At last report, she remained in the Hall County Jail. Ware said no bond has been set at this point.
