The statistics from the first week of the official flu season in Georgia are in and the group reporting the highest number of flu-like cases came from children under the age of 4.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, 796 children aged 4 and under showed flu-like symptoms.
Kids aged 5 through 17 came in the second highest group at 598 cases.
That may sound like a lot, but the agency says the state remains at a minimal level of cases and calls those sporadic.
Of course, doctors urge everyone to get a flu shot as soon as possible and say it takes 2 weeks after receiving the vaccination before you are fully protected.
