Police checkpoint scheduled Friday night near Flowery Branch

The Flowery Branch Police Department in cooperation with a number of other agencies will be conducting a license, safety and DUI checkpoint Friday evening and Saturday morning.

It will be held at the intersection of Gaines Ferry Road and McEver Road from 10:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.

Other participating agencies are the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hall County Fire Department.

The purpose, according to a news release from the Flowery Branch Police Department, is "to increase overall roadway safety and to gain voluntary compliance of Georgia’s traffic laws, to include but not limited to: driver’s license, proof of insurance, seat belts, child safety seats, and DUI.  This will also increase law enforcement visibility in high crash and DUI areas..."
