LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will hold a blood drive Saturday, Oct. 6, from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Ferguson Pottery in Gillsville in memory of Bobby Ferguson.
According to a LifeSouth news release, Ferguson was a long-time blood donor who later in life received blood and was given an extra decade of life. The blood drive at his family’s pottery show is an annual tradition.
While all blood types are needed, O Negative blood (the universal donor) and platelets are especially needed. All donors will receive a free T-shirt, Elite Donor utility tool or other LifeSouth recognition item and be entered in the raffle to win a LifeSouth gift bag.
Blood donors must be at least 17, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is required. LifeSouth donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with each donation.
