No. 21 UNG women's soccer blanks West Georgia

By AccessWDUN

DAHLONEGA — An Asa Thorsen goal in the fourth minute was all that was needed as the No. 21 North Georgia women's soccer team pushed past West Georgia, 2-0, Wednesday evening at the UNG Soccer Complex.

Thorsen scored off a Rosie Embley corner kick just 3:25 into the match after the Nighthawks endured an initial surge from the Wolves. Just 11 minutes later, Thorsen deflected a ball back into the box off of a West Georgia defender's head into the net, causing an own goal to get to the final score.

The Nighthawks continued to push forward throughout the rest of the match, holding West Georgia to just four shots, only one of which was after halftime.

NOTES
- North Georgia is now on a six-match winning streak. UNG has had a six or more-match winning streak in nine of the last 10 seasons.

- The Nighthawks remain unbeaten against the Wolves all-time, improving to 6-0-1 in the series.

- Kaitlyn Siberski held strong in the net for UNG, earning her second straight clean sheet.
