Seven years after disappearance, Hall County deputies continue search for Thomas Funk, Jr.

Seven years after his disappearance, Hall County Sheriff's deputies are hoping that another look at the case surrounding Thomas E. Funk, Jr. will lead to a break.

Funk went missing on Oct. 1, 2011, last seen by his roommate on Oconee Circle in Gainesville.

The next morning, a Sunday, Funk's roommate woke up, noting that Funk was gone, but his cell phone and vehicle were still there, said Derreck Booth, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

At the time of his disappearance, Funk, who would now be a 54-year-old, was 6-feet tall and 155 pounds — a white man with brown hair and blue eyes.

Several days before he went missing, Funk was treated for a foot injury at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the result of an accident involving a circular saw.

"Despite an ongoing effort to solve the case, including several searches using dogs this year ... detectives have no leads in the case," said Booth in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Blake Farr at (770) 297-5501.
