Hall County investigators search for suspects in home invasion

By B.J. Williams
Hall County authorities are on the lookout for two - possibly three - suspects in connection with a home invasion that happened just before 5 a.m. Monday in Lula.

Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said two masked men showed up at the house on Chattahoochee Street and broke down the door.

"One of the victims, who was actually awake at the time - he was in the living room watching television - was ordered to the floor by the perpetrators and at one point was struck in the head with a handgun," Wilbanks said.

The other person in the house was ordered to open a safe and hand over the cash inside.

"The perpetrators did get away with a substantial amount of cash," Wilbanks said. "It was several thousand dollars. We're not revealing at this time the exact amount because we want to be able to use that information to vet any tips or anonymous information that might come in about the money that was stolen."

Wilbanks said the victims described the suspects as light-skinned Hispanic males, but he said it was difficult for the victims to get a good description.

"They believe both of them to be middle aged," Wilbanks said. "They were dressed in dark clothing. They wore masks, gloves, hoods, so a thorough description just wasn't possible."

Wilbanks said a third suspect might have been waiting outside the residence in a vehicle, but that information has not yet been confirmed.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call Investigator Ayers at 770-533-7187; anonymous tips can be left at 770-503-3232.
