Train hits big rig in Buford

While the injuries were minor, police said cleanup continued into the mid-morning hours Thursday when a train and tractor trailer collided in Buford.

According to Gwinnett County Police, officers got the call about the accident on Silas King Street at W. Main Street around 5:28 a.m.

"The trailer portion of the truck was stuck on the tracks," Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Jake Smith wrote in an email.  "The train operator saw the truck and slowed the train, so the impact occurred at slow speed."

While the train was no longer on the scene, Smith, in a 9 a.m. update, said clean-up of the trailer cargo, recycled rubbed, was continuing.
