A Gainesville couple has been arrested and charged with the human trafficking of a teenage girl at an East Hall County residence.
Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware said the victim had been living with Laronda Jamese Moore, 38, and Eric Joshua Robertson, 32, at a location on Miller Drive since July 2017.
"The victim was being used for sex," Ware said. "A family member of Moore introduced the victim to Moore and from that point, the abuse and all started."
Ware said the victim was 16 when the alleged abuse started; she is now 17-years-old.
Law enforcement became involved when Robertson apparently struck the girl in the face on Dec. 1, 2017 "which resulted in a swollen and bruised eye," Ware said. The girl told someone what happened, according to Ware.
He said officers executed a search warrant at the residence on Miller Drive on Jan. 9, 2018.
Eric Robertson was arrested without incident after he was found in possession of a quantity of synthetic cannabinoids, according to Ware. Robertson was on bond for prior pending charges which included criminal damage to property, 2nd degree and attempted robbery. Ware said he was surrendered by his bondsman on those two cases.
Ware said Moore was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 16. She faces a charge of trafficking a person under the age of 18 for labor or sexual servitude. Moore has a Feb. 5 court date.
At last report, both Moore and Robertson remained in the Hall County Jail.
