Top area prep golfers highlight strong field for City Junior Open at CGC

GAINESVILLE — The 2017 Gainesville City Junior Open will be held Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Tee times will be from 10:50 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.on Saturday and Sunday.

A strong field of 57 juniors from all around north Georgia will competing for titles in 4 different age divisions. Division are girls 12-18; boys 10-3; boys 14-15; and boys 16-18.

Of the 57 players in the field, 29 are ranked in the top 100 junior golfers in Georgia in their respective high school grade classes, according to National Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Locals players include Tyler Stauffer from Flowery Branch. North Hall Trojan golfers Bartley Forrester and Michael Kallab. Gainesville High (and future GHS) players in the field are Brody Simmons, Joshua Forbes, Davis Weaver, Ryan Hogan, Price Embry, Zayne Hilderbrand, Andrew Hughes, Sam Patterson and Brigham Ralston.  

Lady Red Elephant Morgan Nicol will be competing in the girls division.
