Five people were hurt - one of them seriously - when a pickup truck and a minivan collided on Thompson Bridge Road at Christopher Drive Friday evening.
The impact sent the minivan crashing into the front of the Honey Baked Ham store at the intersection.
While no one inside the store was injured, four of the occupants of the minivan were hurt, according to Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook. He said a total of seven people were inside the van.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck suffered the most serious injuries.
"The driver of the pickup truck was ejected during the crash and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition," Holbrook said.
The accident occurred around 6 p.m. and blocked southbound traffic on Thompson Bridge Road for a time.
An employee of the Honey Baked Ham store, Diana Almazan, 20, told AccessWDUN's Scott Kimbler she had just closed the doors of the store and stepped into the office when the crash happened.
"The office has a little window and I guess I just heard when they hit and I looked up," said Almazan. "I just saw where the car kind of came in...and then I ran out to see if she [a co-worker] was okay and then I called 911."
It's unknown how much damage the business sustained.
The Gainesville Police Department said the investigation into the crash is underway,
