East Hall scored two runs each in the second, fourth, and sixth innings and single runs in the third and seventh innings. Lumpkin County (9-12, 6-5) scored its only run in the sixth.

Emma Whitfield tossed a no-hitter and allowed just one baserunner in leading the Lady Indians to their third consecutive victory and into a tie for first place in Region 8-AAAA.

Whitfield faced 18 batters and only a hit batter kept her from a perfect game. She struck out 9 and walked none.

The Lady Indians (13-4, 6-2 Region 8-AAAA) scored three runs in the first to grab the early lead. Stephens County added single runs in the second and fifth and then put the game out of reach with three more in the sixth.

Stephens County pounded out 11 hits in the game. Jasmine Lowery, Kataryna Fuller, and Alanna Dunson each collected multiple hits. Kayley Sellers and Lowery each drove in three runs for the Lady Indians.

Stephens Conty is tied with Jefferson (11-7, 6-2) atop the region standings. The two teams will meet on Tuesday in Jefferson. The Lady Indians took the first meeting 1-0 two weeks ago.

CHESTATEE  2
UNION COUNTY 0

Isabel Long and Elizabeth Eddins combined for a five-hit shutout to lead the Lady War Eagles (12-7) to a non-region win over the Lady Panthers.

It was the second straight win for Chestatee, which is getting hot at the right time winning six of its last seven games overall. Union County (9-14) had its three-game win streak snapped with the loss.

Kala Sargent and Bailey Mason each scored one run and Georgia Patterson had one RBI for Chestatee. Sargent, Eddins, Mason, and Danille Ortega all had one hit for the Lady War Eagles.

The Lady Panthers got a solid effort from Megan Bright in the circle as she went 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits and striking out six. The offense just couldn't get anything going against Long and Eddins.

BUFORD  2
CEDAR SHOALS 0

Class AAAAA No. 1 Buford took a 15-0, three-inning win over Cedar Shoals Thursday in Region 8-AAAAA action.

The Lady Wolves (16-2, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) exploded for 12 runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach. Junior Kelly Paulson and sophomore Ansleigh Hollifield each drove in four runs as Buford showed no signs of fatigue after an emotional game the night before against defending Class AAAAAAA champion North Gwinnett.

Junior Payton Shells dominated in the circle, allowing only 1 hit and striking out seven of the 10 batters she faced.

Senior Kelsey Bennett had two hits, including a solo home run, and three RBI, and junior Zayta Kirchoff and freshman Abbi Perkins each had two hits and two RBI for Buford.
