A drug bust that started with a traffic stop Friday has now led to the busting up of a methamphetamine lab in Lumpkin County.
Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office Special Agent In Charge Mitchell Posey says evidence found at a home in Suches lead them to two houses in Dahlonega, one of which was intentionally burned down, but they found a mother load at a second home.
"We found seven 55-gallon drums," Posey said. "Three of those drums tested positive for methamphetamine oil. We now believe the 55-gallon drums is how the methamphetamine was being transported to our area, from where we do not know."
Posey says all three locations are connected to 32-year-old Clara Catarino Mendoza, 32. They believe she has fled with her children and they are on the lookout.
Posey said Mendoza may be driving any of several vehicles. A 2006 yellow H2 hummer, Georgia tag PYX 5020, a 2003 gray Ford Superduty Truck, Georgia tag PKM 9409 or a White BMW 4 door sedan. He said she is on the run with her two small children.
Posey adds the busting up of the three labs has taken millions of dollars worth of crystal meth off the streets of Northeast Georgia.
