North Georgia Tech names new Vice President, Directors

Dr. Mark Ivester, president of North Georgia Technical College, recently announced several new senior appointments on staff.

• Melinda D. Glander has been promoted to Vice President of Academic Affairs. Glander received a bachelor and master’s degree from The University of Georgia and previously served as Dean for Academic Affairs at North Georgia Technical College since 2011. She also previously served as Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Chattahoochee Technical College and Division Chair and instructor at North Metro Technical College before coming to NGTC. Glander resides in Dawsonville.

• Christy Bivins of Toccoa was promoted to Dean of Academic Affairs for Business and Health Programs. Prior to her promotion, Bivins was chair of the Health Science Department since 2013 and program director for Pharmacy Technology since 2006. She received a bachelor of science in pharmacy from The University of Georgia in 1993 and a master’s of science in education from Walden University in 2016. Bivins also serves as an advisor to the NGTC Student Government Association.

• Tony E. Fulbright of Toccoa has been appointed Director of Accounting. Fulbright recently served as an accountant for NGTC since 1999. He received an associate’s degree in business from Truett McConnell College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Piedmont College and an MBA from Brenau University in 2002.

• Kallan K. Williams has been named Director of Admissions and Registrar after recently serving as Director of Retention and Student Navigation Services at NGTC. Williams is a graduate of Piedmont College and earned a master’s degree in music theory from The University of the South. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree of education in higher education from Penn State University. He is a member of the Clarkesville Rotary Club and resides in Demorest.

• Michele Shirley recently was named Director of Administrative Services. Shirley was previously the Director of Admissions and Registrar at NGTC since 2014 and the Special Populations and Retention Coordinator and Career Planner prior to that. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Piedmont College in 1994, an MBA from Brenau University in 1997 and a doctorate in education from The University of Georgia in 2009. Shirley resides in Clarkesville.
