*Piedmont College will host a Preview Day on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Demorest campus. The Preview Day is open to anyone interested in learning more about Piedmont College, including high school students and parents, as well as adult learners wanting to return to college or enroll for the first time. *Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School has officially dedicated its new Lower School to Evelyne Sheats. Sheats is a longtime resident of Lake Burton and has, according to a news release, shown generous support of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and The Little School, an independent school most recently located at First Presbyterian Church in Clarkesville, which merged with RGNS this summer.
*West Forsyth High School participated in its first debate of the year at the Johnson High School Joust. Ninth-grader Tanay Deshmukh placed third in the Novice Lincoln Douglas event with a 4-1 record.. Tenth- graderAnthony Magnolia also competed with a two win, three loss record for his first ever debate as well.
*Brenau University stood out among top colleges and universities around the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s “2018 Best Colleges” for its small average class size and 10-to-1 student-faculty ratio. The publication also creates ranked lists based on prospective student interests. Brenau landed in four lists: Best Colleges for Veterans, Best Value Schools, Best Regional Universities South and Best Campus Ethnic Diversity. In the Regional Universities category, Brenau was the No. 2 private college in the state, ranking only after Berry College in Rome. Finally, Brenau was the No. 1 Georgia college on the Campus Ethnic Diversity list, and No. 6 in the region.
*The Piedmont College R.H. Daniel School of Nursing and Health Sciences, which has recently expanded its academic programs, is holding a series of information sessions at its Demorest and Athens campuses for students interested in careers in a variety of health fields. *Hesler Cardenas, a senior at Gainesville High School, recently won second place in the 2017 American Printing House for the Blind Insights Art Competition in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades category for his artwork entitled "Blossom Petal." There were over 370 entries in the competition which consisted of nine categories.
