Officials at Elachee Nature Science Center issued a "good news, bad news" report Friday on the impact of Hurricane Irma on the facility.
*Good News to Report:
Late this week, Elachee reopened the Visitor Center, Elachee Nature Academy students returned to class, and scheduled K-12 school field trips have resumed.
*Bad News Item #1
Elachee’s telephones are out of service and it is not known when service will be restored. During this outage, please complete Elachee’s web CONTACT US form for assistance.

Due to the destructive effects of Irma, the hiking trails are closed to the public until further notice.
Andrea Timpon, Elachee’s President/CEO and Lee Irminger, Natural Resources Manager confirm there are over 100 downed trees along the 12-mile hiking trail system that must be removed.
Clean-up will be a lengthy and costly project, they add, requiring help from our volunteers. To volunteer for trail clean-up, complete the online CONTACT US form.
