COMMERCE — Greg Huggs threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead East Jackson to a 33-0 victory over Oglethorpe County Friday night on Homecoming.
Huggs connected with Kobe Haley on a 52-yard touchdown pass and with Marcus Wingfield on a 5-yard strike to go with an 8-yard scoring run. Offensive lineman Hunter Cronier also got credited with a touchdown recovering an East Jackson fumble in the end zone. Kentay Rakestraw added a 35-yard touchdown run for the Eagles (1-2).
All the points came in the first half and a running clock was employed for the entire second half. It also was the first Homecoming win for the current East Jackson seniors.
The Eagles defense also played a big role stopping the Patriots (0-2) three times inside the 20 without yielding a point. Oglethorpe County now has lost 14 straight, 20 of its last 21 games, and is just 3-38 overall since 2013.
In a scheduling change, East Jackson next week will play host to Glynn Academy with a 6 p.m. kickoff. The game is being moved from Brunswick because of the threat of Hurriane Irma.
