HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Union County football rolled over Hayesville, N.C., with ease on Friday, storming to a 60-7 win in North Carolina.
The Panthers (2-0) were led by quarterback Cole Wright, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns while also completing 7 of 14 passes for 67 yards and a pair of scores.
Chad Buzzard also rushed for 73 yards and a score on 11 carries, while Kanon Hemphill caught three passes for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Union County's defense allowed just 149 total yards and forced four turnovers, including three fumble recoveries.
The Panthers play host to Andrews, N.C., next week in Blairsville.
