Stephens puts adversity behind with shutout of Franklin

TOCCOA — Stephens County got a solid defensive outing Firday night taking a 28-0 win over Franklin County in its season opener at The Reservation.

The Indians (1-0) even got a defensive touchdown when Kole Rogers scooped up a Lions fumble and returned for a touchdown.

Stephens County led just 7-0 after the first quarter but used a 21-point second quarter to take control.

Jackson Bell and Kamon Taylor hooked for a touchdown pass and Tracy Lowery and Hassan Brown each scored rushing touchdowns for the Lions.

It was the eight straight victory for Stephens County over the Lions. The last Franklin County win at The Reservation came in 1991.

The Indians take on Rabun County next week.
