GDOT awards $4.8 million in contracts for Hall, Gwinnett, Forsyth road projects

State Department of Transportation officials awarded three contracts last month for projects in our area, totaling over $4.8 million.
 
The largest project is in Gwinnett County, a bridge rehabilitation on Thompson Mill Road, over Interstate 985. The low bid was for $1,843,887 and was awarded to The L.C. Whitford Co, Inc. of Alpharetta. It should be completed July 31, 2018.
 
In Hall County, officials awarded a $1,592,337.30 bid to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co, Inc of Marietta for resurfacing work on State Route 11. The resurfacing will start south of SR 11, extending to Little River Bridge; south of Prior Road (Glenwood Street) and extending south of SR 11; and on SR 60 connector, beginning at SR 11 BU and extending to SR 60. It should be completed by the end of June 2018.
 
Several traffic signals will get upgrades in Forsyth County. That bid of $1,389,305.18 to Brooks-Berry-Haynie & Assoc., Inc will upgrade traffic signals in varying places by September 30, 2018.
