HOSCHTON — Buford improved to 6-1 on the season after a 9-0, five-inning victory over Winder-Barrow on Wednesday in the Hawk/Bulldog softball tournament at Mill Creek High School.
The Lady Wolves started quickly scoring two runs in the first on a Kelsey Bennett sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Gabby Benson. They blew the game open with a six-run third, highlighted by a two-run home run from Kelsey Bennett. Mariah Wicker had an RBI double, Katie Perkins had a two-run single, and Janelle Mathis knocked in one run with a single in the inning.
Abbi Perkins added a RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth for Buford.
Senior pitcher Logan Caymol went the distance in the circle for the Wolves while allowing just three and striking out eight in five innings.
Buford next will take on Apalachee on Thursday in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament at Mill Creek.
