No charges in fatal wreck on Dry Pond Road at I-85

No charges will be filed in a wreck Wednesday morning that left a 19 year old man dead in Jackson County near Interstate 85.

The Georgia State Patrol said in an email that Tommy Gilbert of Homer was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Patrol said a 2009 Chevy Impala, driven by Gilbert, was traveling east on SR 82/Dry Pond Road and attempted to turn left onto the Interstate 85 northbound entrance ramp around 5:08 a.m.

The Impala turned in front of a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by Paul Clevenger, 58, of Maryville, Tenn., and the tractor-trailer stuck the Impala on the passenger side in the intersection.

Clevenger did not request medical attention, nor was he transported for treatment.
