Funeral services set for longtime Cornelia postmaster

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for retired Cornelia Postmaster James Edward “Jim” Staples, 86, of Cornelia.

Staples, a familiar face to anyone who used the Cornelia Post Office for more than a quarter century, died Friday, July 7.

He retired as postmaster at Cornelia Post Office after 26 years of service, and a total of 39 years with the U.S. Postal Service.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Staples was a Life Member of Grant Reeves VFW Post 7720.

Memorials may be made to the Cornelia Library, 301 N. Main St., Cornelia, GA 30531.
