Suspect charged with murder for alleged role in Hall County killing

By Bryan Pirkle Reporter

Hall County authorities have made an arrest in the murder of a Gainesville man that occurred on Barnes Drive early Monday morning.

Delwoun Quintess Williams, 24, was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding State Court Probation warrant after having already been identified as a person of interest in the shooting death of Cornelius Gordon, also 24. Officials with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said that warrant was issued last May in relation to an earlier misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

According to HCSO 1st Lt. Chris Dale, following Williams' arrest, the ongoing investigation into Monday's killing led authorities to charge Williams with murder for his alleged role in Gordon's death.

Gordon, a Gainesville resident, was shot and killed while sitting in a vehicle parked at a home on Barnes Drive off of Floyd Road in Hall County, police said Monday afternoon.

Williams now faces the following charges in the case, in addition to the aforementioned possession charge:

  • Felony Murder
  • Terroristic Threats & Acts

Lt. Dale said that Williams, who was arrested without incident, was booked into the Hall County Jail.

The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
