The U.S. Forest Service will partially close Wildcat Road on the Chattooga Ranger District in Rabun County on Monday to allow road work after a landslide. The road will be closed beyond Wildcat 1 Campground to the end of the road, including the entrance to Wildcat 2 Campground.
"This closure is needed to protect natural resources and public safety," warned Chattooga District Ranger Ryan Foote. He added, "This road work will protect the forest and watershed, and I ask folks to respect the closure for the safety of road crew workers and themselves."
As a result of the road work, Wildcat 2 Campground will also be closed June 26-30. The other campground, Wildcat 1, will remain open and available for camping as this is located before the construction work.
