The new manager of the Forsyth County Animal Shelter is scheduled to start with the county next Monday.
Cynthia Iacopella has more than 20 years of animal welfare experience, recently serving as director of adoptions for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, according to a media release from the county.
Iacopella has also served as director of the town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in New York and as care center director for Animal Care and Control of New York City. She has a bachelor’s degree in physical anthropology and associate degrees in both liberal arts and wildlife science and education.
"We look forward to Cynthia joining Forsyth County and leading operations at our animal shelter," Interim County Manager Tim Merritt said in the release. "Her vast experience working with animals in many different capacities will be valuable as the shelter continues its focus on providing high quality animal care and maximizing the placement of adoptable animals."
Iacopella will fill a vacancy left when previous manager, Jeanie Curphey, the county in October.
The animal shelter is located in the north end of the county at 4065 County Way.
