By Track PR

SENOIA, Ga. - Ashton Winger powered to his first career Super Late Model victory Saturday night at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway.

The 16-year-old Senoia, Georgia speedster started the night by setting fast time in qualifying at the 3/8 mile dirt speedway, and then paced the field for the entire 25 lap feature.

Clint Smith battled with Zach Leonhardi on a late race restart for second, and came home with the runner up position. Michael Page finished in third, with Travis Pennington in fourth and Leonhardi in fifth.

In other action, Jody Knowles and Dennis Lykins, Jr. battled over the closing laps of the Crate Late Model feature, with the race coming down to a drag race to the finish line. Lykins, Jr. scored the victory by less than a fender. It marks his first career win at Senoia Raceway. Marty Lunsford finished in third, with Trey Wood in fourth and Jamie Maurice in fifth.

In the Limited Late Model feature, Jason Williams passed Matt Dooley on lap 11, and cruised from there to his second win of the season. Dooley finished second, with Tyler Thomason third, Chris Carr fourth and Brant Hardin fifth.

Joe Hillman bypassed JR Hardy with a couple of laps left in the Hobby Stock feature, and went on to his fourth victory of the season. Hardy, James Swanger, Blant Duke and Ryan Ray rounded out the top five.

Bobby Arnold took the win in the Late Model Sportsman feature, with Blake Griffin in second, Curtis Turner in third, Drew Larson in fourth and Keith Fields in fifth.

Mark Newton was the winner in the Mini Stock feature. Marc Leath was second, followed by Jamie Godbee in third, Jamie Nicholson, Sr. in fourth and Bobby Faulkner in fifth.

Derick Matthews held off McKenna Nelms to take his victory of the season in the Bomber division. Tim Harmon finished third, with Dorough Bright in fourth and Jim Jackson in fifth.

Morgan Pittman become the sixth different winner of the season in the new Hot Shots division feature, with Christy Matthews in second, Nathan Farrow in third and Dave McWilliams in fifth.

Senoia Raceway returns to action on Saturday, May 13th, as the speedway plays host to the Southern All-Stars Super Late Model Series for the Mike Head, Jr. Memorial.

The race, held in honor of the late Mike Head, Jr., who lost his life tragically over two decades ago, will celebrate the 20th Anniversary run with a new home at Senoia Raceway, after a 19-year run at Alabama’s Talladega Short Track.

“We are looking forward to the race being held at what really is our home track, Senoia Raceway, this year,” said Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Mike Head, Sr. “It will be closer to home for us and should be a great race on this new gumbo clay.”
