Authorities are searching for an unidentified Hispanic male who fled the scene of an accident involving two vehicles and a train in southwest Hall County Thursday evening.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Cottrell, Inc., on Candler Highway around 5:30 p.m., where State Patrol Cpl. Spencer Munger said the collision took place.
"It was determined that a train was traveling eastbound," Munger explained, "And Vehicle #1, which was a Chevrolet truck, was exiting the parking lot of Cottrell Trucking and failed to yield the right-of-way to the train."
"The train basically struck the truck in the right side, which rotated the truck clockwise," he continued.
Munger said a second vehicle, located across the tracks from Vehicle #1, had yielded to the train while attempting to enter the Cottrell parking lot. He said the collision spun Vehicle #1 into the second vehicle, a Freightliner flat-bed truck.
"Ultimately," Munger said, "[Vehicle #2] came to an uncontrolled rest on the westbound sides of the tracks."
Fire Captain Zach Brackett said shortly after the collision that no injuries had been reported.
A Hispanic male, who Munger said was driving the first vehicle and was possibly an employee at Cottrell, was seen fleeing the scene on foot.
"We are continuing our investigation, in conjunction with Cottrell Trucking, to identify who that person might be."
If authorities are able to identify the at-fault driver, Munger said he would likely be charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
