A Mill Creek High School student has taken home the top honor is the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for Georgia's 10th Congressional District.
Georgia Congressman Jody Hice announced sophomore Emma Babushkin won first place with her graphite sketch "Theodore" during a ceremony at the Monroe Art Guild in Monroe, Ga. on April 29.
Babushkin won two airline tickets and an invitation to attend a national reception in Washington D.C., where her artwork will hang for a year at the U.S. Capitol.
Second place went to Savannah Lappert from Dacula High School, third place went to Nicola LaPia from Dacula High School; the honorable mention went to Quinn Hasty from Apalachee High School; and the people’s choice award went to Rebecca Moye from Loganville Christian Academy.
Fifty-four high school students from the 10th Congressional District participated in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition.
