Susan Spikes scored her first Summit ET Drag Racing Super Pro victory of the 2017 season at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia in a new dragster on Saturday.
It wasn’t that she had set out to get herself a new ride. The dragster that she had raced last season – and that she had seen a lot of success in – was stolen.
But you can’t keep a good racer down.
Spikes, who hails from Commerce, piloted ’01 Undercover Dragster to the victory over fellow Commerce driver Chas Ledford with a 4.939 ET off her 4.94 dial in (break out) at 137.90 mph and a 0.046 reaction time. Ledford ran a 5.280 ET on his 5.29 dial in (double break out) at 127.98 mph and a reaction of 0.015.
In other action, Judy Blalock, Sr. piloted his 1949 Hudson to his first Pro victory in two years.
During the final, Blalock ran a 7.016 ET on his dial in of 6.80 at 92.02 mph and a -0.048 reaction time. In a first or worst foul start his opponent Brad Hall fouled out first. Hall ran an 8.533 ET with an 8.52 dial in at 78.67 mph and a -0.001 foul start.
In the Sportsman final, Allen Chaffer piloted his 2016 Dodge Challenger to the victory against Russell Haskins. Schaffer ran a 14.679 ET on his 14.64 dial in at 92.86 mph with a reaction of 0.041, while Haskins ran a 12.420 ET off his 12.35 dial in at 107.62 mph and a 0.018 reaction.
Jimmy Heisler doubled up with wins in both the Super Pro Bike and Street ET Bike divisions.
In the Super Pro Bike final, Heisler ran a 10.648 ET off his 10.61 dial in at 122.49 mph and a 0.049 reaction time to defeat Jordan Autrey, who ran a 9.274 ET off a dial in of 9.28 (break out) at 144.94 mph and a reaction of 0.165.
In the Street ET Bike final Heisler again defeated Autrey, this time with a
Jimmy “ChaCha” Heisler from Woodstock, GA won again on his ’00 Kawasaki against the same opponent, Jordan Autrey, in a carbon copy final of both bike classes. 10.650 ET pass on his 10.61 dial in at 123.38 mph with a 0.092 reaction time. Autrey ran a 9.299 ET off his dial in of 9.27 at 143.96 mph and a reaction of 0.129.
Fourteen-year-old Jacob Wilson defeated 14-year-old Jackson Earwood in the Junior Street final. Wilson ran an 11.399 ET off a dial of 11.35 at 61.32 mph and a 0.081 reaction time. Earwood ran an 11.361 ET off his 11.22 dial in at 63.14 mph and a reaction of 0.078.
In the 5-9 JR Dragster final, 10-year-old Cole Wilson bested Malachi Edwards to take the win.
Wilson ran a 12.339 ET on his 12.28 dial in at 42.87 mph and a 0.170 reaction time. Edwards ran a 12.114 ET of his 12.00 dial in at 52.80 mph and a slower reaction of 0.493.
Ten-year-old Shannon Blanton was the winner in the 10-12 JR Dragster final, beating out Michelle Vancica for the victory.
Blanton ran a 9.329 ET on a dial in or 9.25 at 67.66 mph and a 0.305 reaction time. Vancica ran a 9.231 ET on her 8.90 dial in at 55.28 mph and a 0.168 reaction.
Morgan Wilson was the winner in the 13-18 JR Dragster final. The 18-year-old defeated Isaac McPanier with a 7.968 ET pass on her dial in of 7.92 at 79.53 mph and a 0.008 reaction time. McPanier ran an 8.018 ET off his 8.0 dial in at 79.58 mph and a reaction of 0.084.
