Georgia Council of the Blind conference coming to Gainesville this weekend

The Ramada Inn Lanier Center in Gainesville will host the 2017 Georgia Council of the Blind Convention and Conference this weekend.
 
Activities begin Friday at 7 p.m with a welcome reception featuring Matt Simpson, Silver medalist with the U.S. Men's Goalball team at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. The public is welcome to attend the reception, speakers and live auction, tickets are $15 at the door.
 
Other speakers at the event include Mike Wofford, owner and General Manager of Glory 1330 a.m. WGTJ.
 
The next day, the convention Exhibit Hall will feature companies and organizations that provide products and services to the blind and visually impaired. The Exhibit Hall will be open to the public Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
 
Other activities during the weekend will include a guided tour of the Northeast Georgia History Center at Brenau University; a tandem biking event in midtown Gainesville; and speakers.

Georgia Council of the Blind is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Georgians with vision loss. GCB has nine chapters statewide with the Greater Hall County Area Chapter active since 1997.
