Georgia trucker ordered to trial in wife's death in hotel lot

By Associated Press

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) A Georgia trucker accused of striking and killing his wife with his truck in the parking lot of an eastern Pennsylvania hotel has been ordered to stand trial on homicide and aggravated assault charges.

Forty-two-year-old Maurice "Butch'' Adams of Norcross, Georgia, is charged in Northampton County in the March 8 death of 43-year-old Catrina Adams in the lot of the View & Inn Suites in Bethlehem Township, where the couple had been staying.

Authorities said the defendant said his wife "collapsed and was having dizzy spells,'' but surveillance video showed her hanging onto the outside of her husband's truck before she fell as it pulled away.

Defense attorney John Waldron said his client was trying to drive away to avoid an argument and there's no evidence he meant to harm her.
