Man injured, suspect in custody following shooting, manhunt Friday near Nicholson

One man is injured and another is in custody following a shooting and manhunt Friday in the Nicholson area.

Henry Earl Barnett, 36, is accused of shooting the victim during an argument around 9 a.m. near U.S. 441 South, according to Janis Mangum, Jackson County Sheriff.

The victim's injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Both parties left the scene before deputies arrived, prompting a man hunt for Barnett, who was taken into custody about 1 p.m. with help from the Georgia State Patrol and Lee Arrendale State Prison K-9 units.

The victim was located at his parents' house, Mangum said.

Barnett is charged with aggravated assault, though Mangum said more charges could be forthcoming.

He was booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Mangum said the two parties were known to one another, and nobody else is believed to be involved.
