A Hall County native running for governor next year appears set to kick off his campaign in Gwinnett County at the end of the month.
Online invitations on Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle's Facebook page and campaign website invite Georgians to join Cagle and a 'surprise musical guest' at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth on April 30 at 4 p.m.
Both the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Gwinnett Daily Post have been in touch with Cagle's campaign staffers, and both newspapers have reported that no one will label the event a campaign kickoff, but some Atlanta-area political pundits are saying that's exactly what it is.
Cagle, a Republican, filed paperwork on April 10 to run for the office in 2018.
Cagle has been Georgia's lieutenant governor since 2006.
