Georgia Council of the Blind Convention & Conference in Gainesville later this month

The Greater Hall County Area Chapter of the Visually Impaired will host the 2017 Georgia Council of the Blind Convention & Conference on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29. It will be held at the Ramada Inn Gainesville Lanier Centre.

Activities will kick off on Friday evening with a Welcome Reception from 7:00-9:00.  Guest Speaker will be Georgia’s Matt Simpson, Silver Medalist with the U.S. Men’s Goalball Team (TeamUSA) at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. 

Other activities will include exhibitors and vendors; a guided tour of the Northeast Georgia History Center at Brenau University; a tandem biking event in midtown Gainesville; and inspirational speakers.  Among the speakers will be Mike Wofford, Owner & General Manager of radio station WGTJ, GLORY1330 in Gainesville.

The convention Exhibit Hall will feature companies and organizations that provide products and services to the blind and visually impaired.  Representatives will be available to present their products as well as provide information and answer questions.  The Exhibit Hall will be open to the public Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
