Baseball: Wagner pitches Branch past West Hall

FLOWERY BRANCH — Zach Wagner scattered five hits and struck out four in leading Flowery Branch to a 5-1 win over West Hall Friday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

The Falcons (11-10) broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the fifth inning. West Hall (11-10) cut the lead to 4-1 with a run in the top of the sixth but Flowery Branch answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Sean Akins, Grant Lackey, TJ Armstrong, Andrew Reichart, and Blake Decker each had one hit for the Falcons. Akins, Dalton Strickland, Anthony Grutadaurio, and Peyton Vinson all had one RBI for Flowery Branch.

The Falcons next will travel to Buford on Monday in a key Region 8-AAAA contest

West Hall will travel to Prince Avenue on Thursday.
